Mr. Homer (Stacy) Smith

Homer “Stacy” Gerard Smith was born on Friday, February 9, 1968 at 2:47pm in the beautiful city of Fort Pierce, Florida. He was the fourth child born to the union of Homer Smith, Jr. and Sandra Knight (Smith). He is preceded in death by a sister Tamara Luvine Smith (Ft. Pierce, FL); his paternal grandparents, Homer, Sr. (Dublin, GA) and Sarah Smith (Eastman, GA) and his maternal grandparents Joseph (Tallahassee, FL) and MaeEtta Knight (Osceola, GA). Stacy (Gerard) attended the local public schools and graduated with that great class in 1986 near the top of his class. He attended Ft. Pierce Westwood High School and graduated from Vero Beach High School. He went on to join the United States Army and was trained as a paratrooper. After leaving the Army Stacy (Gerard) married his high school sweetheart, Anita Carol McCloud and they went on to spend 19 years together. Stacy (Gerard) has two passions in life, next to his family, truck driving and the Florida Gators. Proudly displaying Gator regalia and U. S. Army paraphernalia. Stacy (Gerard) went on to attend New England Tech where he made the Dean’s list. He also earned his CDL’s where he finished in the top of his class. Stacy (Gerard) traveled all over this country as a long haul truck driver until he finally settled down with Community Asphalt where he has been for the past 8 years. Stacy (Gerard) began his Christian walk early in life going to church with his family playing the drums as a young child and singing in the choir into his late teens. He joined New Birth Primitive Baptist Church recently and accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior on the evening of January 15, 2014. He soon after took to the mission field using Facebook to spread the good news, warning people of the risks of lung cancer and supporting the efforts of the American Cancer Society. On April 8, 2014 at 12:39am Stacy (Gerard) lost his battle with cancer but he put up a valiant fight with faith. He now resides in the comforts of his savior Jesus Christ in heavenly places. Left to cherish his memory and continue his legacy is his lovingly devoted and faithful wife, Anita Carol McCloud-Smith (Vero Beach, FL) his Godchildren: Maurice Glass (Ft. Pierce, FL), Octavion Osby (Melbourne, FL) and Shakedra Thornton (Vero Beach, FL); his proud father Homer Smith, Jr., (Ft. Pierce, FL) and loving mother Sandra Knight (Hugh) Turner (Vero Beach, FL); three sisters: Sandrine “Renea” Smith (Ft. Pierce, FL), Karleen (Willie) Russ (Ft. Pierce, FL) and Teshlet Smith (Pt. St. Lucie, FL); one brother: Dedric Weston (Pt. St. Lucie, FL); an uncle Leroy Smith (Ft. Pierce, FL) and an aunt Rosetta Marsh (Ft. Pierce, FL); he has 8 nieces, 7 nephews; 2 great-nephews and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father in-law Elijah McCloud (Vero Beach, FL) and survived by his loving mother in-law Viola McCloud (Vero Beach) as well as 3 caring sisters in-law and four supportive brothers in-law: Diane McCloud Hurst (Vero Beach, FL), Shirley (Roy) Hayes (Miami, FL), Brenda (Eddie) Grimsley (Ft. Meyers, FL), Tony and Tyrone(Kekia) McCloud (Vero Beach, FL) and a host of other lovingly, respectful in-laws. And last but certainly not least he has two very dear friends and a cousin whom he has said are like brothers: Bobby Thornton, Luther Perkins and Bennie Griffith. A special friend Theresa (Tee) Baxter.
