Charles-Elliott Jerome Davis

August 28, 1973 - February 24, 2014

A Time To Be Born Charles-Elliott Jerome Davis was the first born child of Bernard Jerome Davis and Janis Jackson Davis Miller. He was born August 28, 1973 in Indian River Memorial hospital. He attended the public schools in Indian River County, Vero Beach, Florida, and graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1991. He got his first drum set at the age of two (after beating on his grandmother’s pots and pans at her house). So it was no surprise that throughout his Middle School and High School years, he became an outstanding percussionist. Under the tutelage of Mr. and Mrs. Sammons, he became an accomplished musician and received several awards and recognitions from the Vero Beach High School band. After attending college at Bethune-Cookman College he enlisted in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he went through Navy Seal training. However, one of his officers noticed his experience in music and he was recruited and was assigned to the Navy Band Southwest NAS NI, CA. While in the Navy he received the Good Conduct Medal, the Louis Armstrong Award and the National Defense Service Medal. While in Sacramento performing with the U.S. Navy Band, he suffered a severe injury to his back and was eventually given an honorable discharge. In 2002, while visiting family in Alabama, Charles met and eventually married the love of his life Jennifer Tompkins. Charles and Jennifer served together on the worship teams at both Cathedral of the Cross in Birmingham, AL, Crosslife in Birmgham, AL and Word Alive International Outreach in Coldwater, AL. He served as a fine arts judge for the Assembly of God National Fine Arts program for several years. He has influenced and encouraged many musicians, and non-musicians alike, to enhance their God-given gifts and to pursue their dreams. Alabama was their home until recently when they relocated to Vero Beach, Florida. Charles spent his life networking, making connections, and leaving footprints in the lives of the people he came in contact with. Whether he was meeting you for the first time or had known you for years you always got that “Wow, that’s a great guy!” feeling. On Monday, February 24, 2014, the sweet, charming and lovable spirit of Charles-Elliott Jerome Davis went to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Elliott leaves to cherish his countless memories a very loving and devoted wife of ten years, Jennifer Elizabeth Tompkins Davis, three sons, Samuel Tompkins, Noah K. Davis and Charles-Elliott Jerome Davis, II; three daughters, Cambria L. Davis, San Diego, CA, Victoria Tompkins and Elliana Davis, Vero Beach, Florida, mother, Janis Jackson Davis Miller (Alvin), grandmothers, Mary O.
