Mrs. Annie L. Williams

A Time to be Born: Mother Annie L. Williams was born on March 27,1942 to the late Joseph Brown, Sr. and the late Hattie Queen Williams in Tennille, GA. A Time to Learn: Annie received her basic education in the Washington County Public School System. She graduated from T.J. Elder High School in Sandersville, GA. Annie later enrolled in LaSalle Business School for secretarial training and office skills development. A Time to Love: Annie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Willie James Williams. To this union two children were born: Teresa and Jeffery Williams. Besides raising her children, she also assisted in the “mothering” of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and others. She had an outgoing friendly personality and enjoyed interacting with people. Let’s not forget, that infectious smile! A Time to Relocate: Annie and her family relocated to Vero Beach, FL. in 1964 where she continued to reside for over 58 years. A Time to Labor: Annie was employed by Hobart Brothers Welding for over 28 years. She also worked at the Indian River Mall as a customer service manager for over 10 years. Her last place of employment before retiring was the Indian River County Health Department where she worked for over 10 years. A Time of Enjoyment: Annie was an avid bowler! A few of the bowling leagues that she was a member of included: Queens travel league, State Bowler travel league, and she was instrumental in helping to organize the first Black bowling church league of Vero Beach, FL called the Interfaith Church League. Annie took her exceptional skills and traveled across the US bowling with friends and teammates. She earned many trophies and awards for her high-average and performance. Annie also enjoyed working with younger children teaching them how to bowl and develop their skills. She coached the Saturday Morning Junior Bowler League in which her kids were a part of. A Time to Serve: Annie received her early Christian training in Alford Grove AME church in Tennille, GA. After relocating to Vero Beach, she joined New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of several pastors until her demise. She was a dedicated member, serving in all church ministries, including the Senior Choir, Praise Team, Youth Choir, Mission, and lastly Church Mother. She enjoyed serving others and attending church worship services. A Time to Die: On Sunday morning, July 30, 2023, Annie slipped away to join the hosts of Saints who have crossed the swelling tide and gone on to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Brown Sr. and Hattie Queen Williams; two brothers: Joseph Brown, Jr. and Deacon Willie Rufus Brown; five sisters: Mary Ella Darrisaw, Christine Brown Burnett, Earnestine Brown Miller, Gloria Brown Hunter, and Thelma Reynolds. A Time to Mourn: Left to cherish her memories are her children: Teresa A. Buckner and Jeffery James Williams, Sr. of Vero Beach, FL; one brother: Elder James Hagans, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL; one sister, Rev. Dr. Hattie P. Hagans of Vero Beach, FL; nine grandchildren: Stephanie Ealy of Orlando, FL., Rashawn Grey, Derrick Grey, Barbara Lee Ann Williams, Jeanetta Williams, Courtney Williams, Jeffery Williams Jr., Jeremy Williams all of Vero Beach, FL. and Kevin McMillan, II of Tallahassee, FL. thirteen great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, three sisters-in-law: Karen Faye Brown of Vero Beach, FL., Dearest Lee Williams of Tennille, GA., and Mary Alice Williams of Macon, GA., two godsons: Lee Andrew Bell (Renee) of Ft. Pierce, FL. and Steven Pittman of Vero Beach, FL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and special friends. A Time of Eternal Life: “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” II Corinthians 5:1
